We held our first hedge group meeting on 13th October and were pleased to welcome 4 new members alongside our two TTW originals. In addition four more people who couldn’t make the meeting have since joined our new “TTW Hedge Group” WhatsApp group.  So now we are up to 10 members! This is a great start and we hope to be doing some exciting projects in the future.

Tom from Somerset Hedge Group has invited us to come to see the Hedge laying competition on Saturday 28th November. There he can explain the different types of hedges and we can get a feel for what hedge maintenance is about. We will be using this event as our next chance to get together, so if you’d like to join in please do come along. Email community.ttw@gmail.com to join the WhatsApp group where we will be sharing lifts etc.

We also have plans to Survey Britain’s hedgerows starting with the hedges in the Green Corridor using the PTES guidance. There is a chance to perhaps help a local farmer plant a hedge this winter, and we’d like to arrange another field trip to see Blackdown Hills Biochar again and perhaps book a workshop.

We’ll be working on a new “group” page on the TTW website too, which will hold links to these groups and the full minutes for the first meeting.
