Soft fruit ready to pick

During the warm wet weather we had a period of trying to rescue the various fruit bushes from the fast growing grass. However, we are pleased to say that as a result the currants and other soft fruits are now ready for picking. The ripening times for the various fruits can be found in the Foraging Booklet. This booklet can also be collected from Ruxtons, Sunseed and the library. You will find blackcurrants, redcurrants, whitecurrants, jostaberries, blueberries, gooseberries in a number of sites – Swains Lane, Burrough Way, Corams Lane, Longacre and Fox’s Field. You can also find raspberries and cultivated blackberries in a patch at Longacre. These are all grown for everyone to pick for free.
