The UK Government has published ‘A National Security Assessment’ that considers the effects of biodiversity degradation and ecosystem loss. It covers a range of issues that could be seriously affected by this situation. Whilst we may normally consider the effects on wildlife and food security, this document identifies many more areas that could impact our security. These include migration, crime, political polarisation and conflict. It identifies the fact that biodiversity loss is a local, national and a global threat.
