Hand Apple Pressing Day
This year is the 20th anniversary of the Swains Lane Nature Reserve. To celebrate, we are holding a hand apple pressing day on Saturday 19 September. There will be three hand operated presses and ‘scratters’ to mash up the apples.
If you have your own apple trees and would like some juice, bring your apples along, together with some clean bottles (but not milk bottles). Alternatively you can pick some apples in the Swains Lane orchard and juice those. There will be no pasteurisation available, so the juice will only last three days unless it is frozen or made into cider.
This is a fun day for all the family and everyone is welcome. There will also be a scything demonstration to encourage new people to join our volunteer gardening team. You can also learn a new skill.
