Greenway Public Meeting

It was standing room only at the recent Grand Western Greenway public meeting. Held on 24 January 2025 at the Scout Hall, the purpose was to provide information on the various proposals. Gideon Amos, MP for Taunton and Wellington opened the meeting. He explained that he is supporting the Greenway in any way that he can. This included talking to town and country councillors.

A number of experts made up the panel. TTW member Charles Briscoe gave an opening presentation explaining the various route options. He also spoke about the need to keep an open mind because there are still negotiations with landowners to be had. The panel of experts then answered questions. These included questions of timescales; how it would be paid for; and whether horses could use it. Other questions asked about the impact of the new Wellington train station, the route and its proximity to places such as Taunton College and Musgrove Park hospital.
