Electric vehicle incentives
The Government has recently announced incentives for people to buy a new electric vehicle instead of petrol or diesel. From 16 July 2025 car manufacturers can apply for the Electric Car Grant of £3,750. This will help to make purchasing a new electric car a little cheaper.
Charging an electric car at home is usually cheaper than public chargers. However, for people without a drive or garage, this is not usually possible. Home charging provides the option of using cheap rate electricity by charging overnight. It also means that people can take advantage free power from their solar panels for charging. Now money will be available to local authorities for the installation of cable gullies within the pavement. Up until now not all local authorities would undertake this work. It is hoped that this funding will enable all authorities to install these gullies.
