Hand Apple Pressing @ Swain’s Lane
Join us to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Swain’s Lane Nature Reserve for a Hand Apple Pressing day! We’ll bring along three hand operated presses and “scratters” to mush up the apples. If you’d like to bring some apples to juice from your garden, or if you don’t have a tree to pick some apples from the orchard before we start, please bring some glass or plastic bottles to decant into to take juice home with you. Most clean bottles will be fine but do avoid milk bottles as it taints the flavour. There is no pasteurisation available, so juice will only last 3 days unless it’s frozen or made into cider. We will also be doing a scything demo to encourage new volunteers to join our volunteer gardening team and learn a new skill.
