Balsam Removal @ Fox Cub Field

The Himalayan Balsam is an invasive plant that is threatening the native wildflowers that are currently in this wetland meadow, but it’s easy to pull up when it’s young. This session will be a good activity for the whole family, no experience is needed, we will guide you how to spot the Himalayan balsam and it’s really satisfying to make a real difference in one morning. Do wear wellies or shoes suitable for boggy ground, long sleeves and gloves in case of nettles, wear sunscreen and bring some water to drink because it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day! Please try to walk or cycle, and if you have to drive, the nearest parking is the car park behind “One Stop”.

Locals will access the field via the basins, but as the footpath is currently closed due to health and safety reasons, we cannot officially direct you from this side. Fox Cub Field is a small field between the railway and Fox’s Factory; near Thunder Bridge. Access from Fox’s Field from the Millstream Gardens side; What3words ///phones.card.corrupted however please walk or cycle as there is no parking. You can park in the car park behind “one stop”. The nearest postcode to the Tonedale entrance side is TA21 0DH, and you can also access via the field gate on Linden Hill. Walk across Fox’s Field to the far end where the railway line is, across a small bridge over the river, the entrance to Fox Cub Field is straight ahead, you do not need to go through the tunnel under the railway. The What3words location is /// carpeted.fortunate.harmony
