TTW Field Trip to The Blackdowns Hills Eco-hub
A talk and demo with Carolyn Dare – Biochar, Healthy Soils & Community Growing
“Join us for a visit at the Blackdown Hills Eco Hub to explore the fascinating world of biochar, its role in healthy soils and its potential to support climate resilience.
We’ll share the current thinking and practical experiments taking place at the Eco Hub, including biochar production, soil improvement, water retention, our trials with biochar and mycelium nests to clean nutrient-rich/polluted ditches/local waterways and carbon sequestration. There will be opportunities to learn more about how biochar can be used alongside composting and regenerative growing methods.
The workshop will also include a visit to our community food-growing garden, where we’ll explore our no-dig approach, heritage organic vegetables, composting, biochar and the ways we’re putting these ideas into practice.
A practical and engaging morning of learning, sharing ideas and discovering how biochar can contribute to healthier soils, cleaner water, resilient communities and a more sustainable future.”
TTW are hoping to start a new Hedge Sub Group see the news post. If you’re interested in the yield of biochar you can make from hedge trimming waste, please come along.
We are car-sharing, so email community.ttw@gmail.com to share a lift, if driving there’s plenty of parking just over the metal bridge on the left. Just be careful as it’s a narrow lane. If you need to reverse make sure you stay in the middle of the lane… don’t veer off to the left as there’s a large ditch at the end of the lane.
Location; EX14 4UL in Combe Raleigh.
