Biodiversity Net Gain
Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is intended to encourage land owners to develop or manage their land in a way that is better for the natural environment than it was before. This includes making or improving habitats for wildlife. Starting in January 2024 any planning application in England will need to demonstrate at least 10% BNG.
Somerset Council is inviting comments on its draft BNG Guidance Note. This note sets out guidance and advice on the method of calculating BNG within Somerset. The consultation period closes on 04 December 2023. To submit your comments go to the survey site. If you’ve missed the dates for the consultation there is more information from Somerset wildlife trust in the recent BNG webinar.
