Apple pressing day

Transition Town Wellington’s apple season got off to a great start with an apple pressing afternoon on Saturday 19 September. This was held at the Swains Lane Nature Reserve using hand presses. People were invited to bring their own apples to be pressed. The event was organised as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of  establishing the nature reserve. You can view pictures of the event on the events page. Apples will be the TTW theme for the next few weeks. Volunteers are in the process of picking apples from various orchards around the area. They will then be pressed to make delicious apple juice. The juice is then sold in various outlets, such as Ruxton’s in Wellington. The proceeds go to supporting the work of Transition Town Wellington.

Volunteers are always welcome to help. The remaining dates are as follows:

Thursday, September 24th (2pm – 4pm): Apple picking at an orchard at Rewe Farm
Monday, September 28th (2pm – 4pm): Apple picking at Swains Lane Nature Reserve
Wednesday, September 30th (9am – 5pm): Pressing Day at The Greenhouse, Golden Hill, Wiveliscombe TA4 2NY

If you would like more details of how you can get involved, please email apples@ttw.org.uk.
