We’re really pleased that expanding to two juicing days this year has meant we’ve almost doubled the quantity. In 2024 we produced 609 bottles and this year 1100. Brendon Orchards has also seen a rise in the amount of juice they have produced too. This is since they introduced a service where people can bring their apples for them to juice and bottle instead of having to do it yourself. The number of bottles they’ve ordered rose from 3,000 bottles last year to 14,000 so far this year. This is really good news because it indicates that fewer apples were wasted overall from local trees and orchards. Thank you to all in the apple group and others who helped pick and juice. The juice is now ready for you to buy from Ruxstons, High Street, Wellington for £3.75 per bottle. It sold really well last year which is why we have made more this time – last year it ran out in the spring whereas it will keep (as it’s pasteurised) for a year. Hopefully we’ll have enough left for next summer! We run a bottle deposit scheme too, where you can return your bottle to be reused and receive £1 back. This really cuts down on the emissions associated with manufacturing and delivering new bottles. This has been really popular with customers, so much so that Fraser at Ruxstons informs us that other manufacturers are looking at the feasibility of a return scheme – which is more good news for the planet!!
